This is three years in a row we have discussed rebounding and a Georgetown player [Green, Hibbert and now Monroe]. I think it's safe to say that it is the system.
lol, it may just be. I'll probably be even harder on Monroe, because I think his NBA upside is a decent bit more than the other two.

When was the last time there was a draft without an All Star?
I guess I meant someone who makes 2+ All Star teams. I was doing the old sports radio trick to just throw something provocative out there to get a response.

Neither Green nor Hibbert are great rebounders though.

He struggled against Blair and the Pitt frontcourt today although this was to be expected. Most freshmen need a game or two to adjust when they are playing against physical teams, especially when it comes to rebounding. Also didn't help that Pitt could just crowd him because noone else besides Summers was making shots.
That being said, his feet for a guy his size are incredible, he just needs to learn how to mix the finesse with a little more selfishness and physical play. The latter will come once he gets stronger and fills his body out, the other probably not in college because of the system he is playing in.
I watched the first half of Gtown vs. ND tonight and Monroe can do everything. Rebound, block shots, run the floor, steal, face up for a midrange jumper. He isn't comfortable with his post moves enough, doesn't establish position as well as he should, and he doesn't demand the ball, but in a few years he's going to be great.

6'10'' 234 Freshman. An intriguing player due to his versatility and size. Has an unusual set of skills … Very unselfish and displays tremendous passing ability … Monroe has excellent height and length allowing him to grab boards, block shots and score easy baskets on smaller players … Lefty who excels at facing the basket and using the dribble (which has been the trademark of his game since his sophomore year in high school) … Runs the floor very well for a player his size … High character guy who works hard to improve, also plays with good energy … Solid free throw shooting motion and touch on his shot … Has shot blocking potential due to his length but must become better disciplined, not leaving his feet … Shows a good understanding of positioning himself and boxing out on rebounds … Has good hands to catch and secure the ball. Top 15 pick right now. Compare to Rasheed Wallace late Chris Webber.
Staying in school or entering the draft? Averaging 14 points, 7 boards, and 3 assists per game while shooting 56% from the floor. Has had 2 straight double-doubles and is building momentum for March. The big question is if the Hoyas can get into the Big Dance or will they be playing in the NIT.
He's going to be picked lower next year. He was looking top 3-4 this year, I see top 10 next year.
