Re: Kenny George

I highly doubt he will make it to the NBA but I definitely see him playing in some minor league like Sun Woo Woo does (or whatever his name is). I'm sure a team in a league like the ABA will pick him up just to get attract fans from all over and make big cash.

Re: Kenny George

He would be fine at the end of the bench as a situational guy. He can change the game for small stretchs which about all you can ask for from a 2nd rounder or of a bench guy.

I watch the guy as he plays in my hometown. Excellent clean blocker and puts up with a lot of dirty play against him. Tolerable free throw shooter (although he doesn't get to the line much). If he gets the ball within 4' it's going in. He is trying to hit some 8 footers but he's not hitting them yet.

Best attack with him on D is to either get a quick transition basket, or have shooters who can hit 10' runners as he can't reach THAT far.

He is incredibly slow due to horrible knees. He'll play one more year at UNC-Asheville. My GUESS is he's drafted in round 2 and playing D-League a half-season before the call-up.

He won't be a superstar, but an ingenious coach who can keep him healthy knows he can disrupt an opposing team like UNC-Asheville does, which is basically two entirely different attacks based on whether he's playing or not.

He's also an incredibly nice and smart guy. Nobody can say anything bad about him as a person. I don't want to say he's too nice, but he doesn't have the "killer instinct" you would want, but he's relatively new to basketball. Yao can get away with being a nice guy because he's an outstanding shooter. George is much more filled out and needs to learn how to be a beast.

He has developed massively as a player in a year. We had another player last year who was 7' even but he was injured, too. Imagine a front court with TWO healthy players over 7'.

Watch out for UNC-Asheville, they are much better this year.
CJ Walker? He sucked.

Anyways I watched Asheville play live at Radford last year. And it was just beyond belief to have a guy that big 40 feet from me. I've been around and played in hoops all my life, but I was completely taken back.

Most big men in the Big South are 6'7" twigs.

Re: Kenny George

I just saw videos of this George kid.

My God, he is a FREAK. He is so huge compared to the relatively puny college players. It's ridiculous. At 7'8" nearly 400 pounds, he could be so dominant, but you can tell that he's uncomfortable in his body.

He's extremely slow, does not move, and is highly unskilled. However, his size allows him to block everything within reach, grab any rebound near the rim, and score with ease.

I don't think he makes it in the NBA, because I think this is a guy who sadly might not be able to walk by the time he's 30. I read that he has bad knee problems.
