Re: Joey Dorsey
you guys are hating i think
sure dunks are like long range 3 pointers for him and i don't think he's passed the ball more than twice in his whole career
but he is a terrific rebounder/defender and if he wasnt so old i would for sure look at him in the 2nd round and he still has a chance
if ben wallace had a succesful career this guy could too

Re: Joey Dorsey
I really don't see how he's a terrific defender when he's sitting on the bench in foul trouble most of the time.

Re: Joey Dorsey
Every time he talks smack too, he never backs it up. Not to mention he is balding from his braids. He looks like a moron. It's time to go to the "meat" old man Joe.

Re: Joey Dorsey
welll he is the anchor/inside presence for possibily the best defense in the Nation (maybe even in the ciry of memphis, lol grizzlies)
He leads his team in blocks and possibily steals??? also arguably the best defensive rebounder in the nation
he gets called for some ticky tack fouls cuz he is so big
and those fouls prove that he is clearly not afraid of contact
also the trash talking??? come on?? is that really a valid reason to say he is a bad player???
trash talking could be helpful too sometimes... possibile confidence boost/intimidation

Re: Joey Dorsey
He is a 24 year old senior and he's average. He disappears in big games. His numbers are mostly playing against an inferior Conference USA. Big deal.

Re: Joey Dorsey
I'd pay absolutely no attention to the rebounding numbers of someone playing in a pace driven system like Memphis is running. You're jacking up shots as quick as you can and you're going to miss a lot of them. It's pretty much meaningless, especially when you're playing most of your games against teams who are both lacking in talent and playing from behind so that they have to take quick shots.

That's especially a problem when you're that old and that physically intimidating. What that means is the problem isn't experience or lack of physical maturity, it has to do with skill and intangibles. If the skills and intangibles aren't there at 24, there isn't much hope. There are some anomalies - like Al Thornton, whom at an advanced age I think still owns a genuine desire to improve.
I think some bozo will take him in the first round for the same unfortunate reasons Shelden went #5 - physical maturity and 'NBA-readiness.' If I were Dorsey, I would do everything I can to position myself as another Ben Wallace - get the bicep armbands, let the fro out, get the goggles; anything he can.

Not every big, loudmouthed, musclebound black guy with no offense is Ben Wallace.
The biggest misconception about Dorsey is that he's one of those rough-and-tumble guys who you don't want to mess with on the court. Guy's every bit as soft as Tiger fans thought Pau Gasol was. The difference is that he'll trash talk and flex and yell and act like a tough guy, but the second the other guy stands up to him, Dorsey straight-up vanishes. He's all show. The only guys he intimidates are the nobodies in Conference USA.
Anytime he goes up against NBA-level competition, he gets wrecked.
He injured Douglas-Roberts on one critical play, and then went over the back on Dozier - his own teammate - and causes him to travel the next trip down the court. Then, when Lofton gets fouled and goes to the line to seal the game, who's there talking smack? Dorsey, the guy who just sabotaged his team and did nothing all game. What a bonehead.
