On the real though this is a matchup of the two best passers not yet eligible for the draft.

Since the 2008 draft is over I would say they are eligible

Re: Brandon Jennings
I figured he would go to Europe, why wouldn't he? He'll still get coverage over there for being so original (not to mention it's not like the NBA doesn't have scouts over in Europe). As long as he plays well, which he should considering his talent level. The real question is does he stay there for one year, or two?

Re: Brandon Jennings
ha! this is great!
a two -three year contract. if he's good, a team will pay to release him. on top of that, endorsements!

Re: Brandon Jennings
I have my doubts about this. Nobody should want a one year rental for such an incomplete player. A role player at point, questionable decision making, no defense. Doesn't seem like someone a competitive team would want right now.

That doesn't have anything to do with stupidity. Kids dream of playing in the NBA, not somewhere in Europe. This is a one year thing and he would have gone straight from highschool to the NBA if it was still possible. Most rookies aren't ready to have a big impact.

blake griffin i'm sure dreams of playing in the NBA, Chase Buddinger dreams of playing in the NBA, they decided to stay an extra year........most rookies arent ready to make a big impact because the only rookies that can make big impacts are probably the toop 3-5 picks anyway......it has nothing to do with being a rookie, it's the fact that there just arent that many people who are that good.......

Re: Brandon Jennings
Staying in college is very different from going overseas. There are no buyout negotiations.

Not everyone can afford to stay in college for more than the mandatory year. If someone offers you a lucrative shoe deal, you have the chance to be a Top 10 pick, would you really turn that down ? I sure would not.

That's why there are a lot of top 10 busts every year. They haven't the good sense (or good advice) to defer the payoff in order to enhance their long-term best interests. The NBA is not the best place to develop individual talent.
BTW, how many rookies each year get lucrative shoe deals?
