Cody Zeller - C - Indiana
Cody Zeller is a 6'11" 240 sophomore center for Indiana. So far this season he is the best center in college. He has a developed post game and runs the floor well. Like all the other young centers, there are questions about how his game will translate to the NBA.
Draft Express Profile From his freshman season to his sophomore season, Zeller has improved his rebounding and reducing his fouling this season. His offensive efficiency and scoring has improved through him drawing more fouls.

re: Cody Zeller - C - Indiana
He turned 20 in October and has room on his frame to gain weight and strength. A lot of people didn't believe Brook Lopez would have the strength or speed to compete.

Really? He's 7' 240. He's easily gained 20-30 pounds since he came to IU, both during his Freshman season and off season.

I don't know about him either. He seems a lot like his brother to me, but not as athletic. Decent back to the basket game, but wouldn't be a guy I'd dump it to in the post in the NBA right now. He can be a little unreliable and isn't the best passer out of the post.

re: Cody Zeller - C - Indiana
haven't seen that much of him really, but I think he could be effective in a system where he could try to outrun opposing bigs. I think if you made a commitment to getting him the ball before his man got into position he could be a decent player, but I am not seeing him as a really great player unless he gets stronger.

I just don't think his body is meant to fill out and be strong. Look at his brothers...they don't look strong at all. It is just genetics.
If he can show out he will be better than Tyler. |

re: Cody Zeller - C - Indiana
Cody's definitely as athletic as Tyler when you factor in his strength advantage. He runs the floor well and can jump well enough for a 7-footer. He actually has a fairly advanced post-up game for being a college Sophomore, and, actually, he can pass out of the post quite well. He probably wouldn't do so well against double-teams in the NBA immediately and he's not a spectacular passer, but he's definitely towards the top of the class in terms of big men with PG skills (Cody has a good handle as well). He actually enjoys contact and looks to finish above the rim often, although he does get rattled by more physical players at times,
He's unreliable in the post because he's still young and sometimes he doesn't demand the ball. He has all the tools, though. He has a face-up game for those who play him more physically, draws fouls exceptionally well, and can score with his back to the basket. He also operates well out of the high post, although his jumper is still in progress. That said, Cody Zeller isn't a guy you build a team around, but I don't think anyone in this class is. I don't see what's stopping him from being at least as good as Chris Kaman, though.

He looks smooth and talented, i think he is going to be a good player in the nba, but i think he will be a disappointment as a potential #1 pick

re: Cody Zeller - C - Indiana
Same thing is probably true of anyone who gets taken first this year. They'll be called a bust because there wasn't anyone better to take. Probably be someone taken later who surprises and everyone will claim that it was obvious that they should have gone first all along.

What I like...Quick First step and seems to understand and have the ability to be a nice P & R Defender. He is active...that makes up for a lot.
