If I had reached Thorpe, I would have told him that Deron Williams was to the Jazz like Bill Clinton was to the economy. People will always argue about whether or not he was responsible for all that success. But one thing's certain: He could have screwed it up, and didn't. - Henry Abbott
Not yet, and as of now I don't think our chances our good. Reggie Bullock is every bit as good as Barnes, and probably has just as good potential down the line. If we get Barnes I would be highly disappointed if we didn't win the 2010/2011 national title.
"The kid's the real deal," Telep says. "Honestly, when I watch Harrison play I'm not asking, 'Is he the best player in the country?' I'm asking, 'How many NBA All-Star games will he play in?' "
Rob Harrington from PrepStars.com offers similar praise.
"All the hype is warranted," Harrington says. "Harrison is without question the best player we've seen in several years. He's not quite on a LeBron James level. But he'd certainly be on par with the stars we saw in the Class of 2007 - guys like Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley and O.J. Mayo."
all i remember is duke fans announcing for days the announcement of Wright and how he was going to look great in Duke blue. it was a "sure thing!"
and then the duke boards going into melt down when he didn't commit.
it was almost nearly as bad for patterson and monroe. it's not like duke hasn't been recruiting the big men. problem is - would you want to be coached by a bunch of small duke guards if you're a big man?
by the way, Rivals is reporting that a decision by Barnes AND Irving may be sooner than later. might be involving the blue devils too (but as this thread indicates - we all know how that goes).
I may be acting like a homer but I would LOVE for duke to get irving he can flatout play. ANd yes I agree with what you said about Dukes big man coach. K needs to bring in someone from the outside for onc to teach the pf's and c's
Harrison Barnes: (USA Midwest): The 6'8 Barnes started at small forward and logged a team high 30 minutes (out of a possible 40). Barnes was aggressive on the offensive end, hoisting 18 shots and making seven of them including two-of-six from the perimeter to finish with a game high 20 points. In addition, the nation's top rising senior added seven rebounds, one block, and a steal
You know, before Barnes blew up the summer before his Junior Year (when he was just another 4 star recruit), it was assumed around these parts that Barnes would have committed on the spot to Wisconsin if we showed interest and gave him an offer. I don't know if I should be sad about that, or happy. On the one hand we missed out on Harrison Barnes, on the other hand, it's pretty unlikely that he would have stuck to that commitment.
