What did you think of the Bibby contract when he signed it? For those who don't remember, he signed a 7 year, 80 million dollar deal in the summer after the 2001-2002 season.

During the 2001-2002 season, he averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.09 steals per game.

In the playoffs, he played outstanding, averaging 20.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.44 steals per game, while stepping up to hit some clutch shots.

At the time I was pretty mad about the contract. It seemed like his value was near about $50 million before those playoffs. I didn't know if he was for real or was he just hot. It seemed like he was taking the Kings hostage, asking for $80 million because he was the only one who wanted to take the big shots and the Kings looked so close to beating the Lakers. I thought the contract would keep the Kings from getting new players.

It's turned out pretty well though. What did you think at the time and what do you think now?

At the time, I definetly thought that they were overpaying to keep him, but I was happy that they got him locked up.

There wasn't really another PG on the market that could replace him and I didn't like the prospects of having BJax as a starter.

Like you said, things turned out well for the Kings...I can't recall seeing Bibby's name included in a Most Overpayed/Over-rated thread on the NBA Board in quite a while
