The classiest fans in the NBA rose to give CWeb a wonderful ovation for all the wonderful memories and playoff runs that we enjoyed during Webb's time in Sacramento. Although I'm not a CWeb fan, I rose up and clapped for what he's done for the franchise. And it was a misty moment to see him wipe his tears away on his jersey while we serenaded him.
But! I am so happy that Geoff Petrie and the front-office got out of his bloated contract and found a sucker to take CWeb's ball-and-chain contract. Just look at the stats from last night's game:
Skinner and Kenny Thomas: Both had double-doubles! Skinner had a career-high 19 boards!
Skinner: 13 pts on 6-11 shooting, 19 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks.
Thomas: 20 pts on 9-20 shooting, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, but 6 turnovers.
Webber: 20 pts on 8-26 shooting, 10 rebounds, 3 assists.
The numbers, in this particular case, reveal the truth of the story: The Sacramento Kings made out like bandits in this trade!! That sound you hear coming from California is not an earthquake, but the sound of raucous, smirking, rip-roaring laughter from Sacramento Kings' fans giddy and gleeful to be rid of CWeb.
I watched "The Contender" for 30 minutes for the first time Sunday night and it's amusing to see the West Coast boxers dominating the East Coast boxers. Same thing happening in the NBA. These things run in cycles, but I'm enjoying the West Coast dominance. Thank you again Billy King!!!
