The Bergen Record is reporting that the Nets will roll the red carpet out for free agent forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim and possibly offer him a contract worth up to $29 million over five years. Rahim would fill a glaring need in the Nets' frontcourt.

Like Jason Kidd, Rahim attended the University of California, so there is a bond there and Shareef is exactly the kind of player the Nets need. His fantasy value would be injected with a significant boost if he signed in Jersey, where he would start and see major minutes. He is also rumored to have received interest from Sacramento.

I think I read this elsewhere also. Kings are looking into getting Abdur-Rahim with a possible S&T.
