Nuggets look for home-and-away sweep against Kings

Denver (2-3) at Sacramento (1-4), 10:00 pm EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets hope to add to the misery of the Sacramento Kings when the two collide at Arco Arena on Friday.

The Nuggets posted a 107-91 triumph over the Kings on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center. Marcus Camby led six players in double figures for Denver with 20 points while adding 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Carmelo Anthony collected 18 points and eight rebounds while point guard Andre Miller narrowly missed a triple-double by collecting nine, 11 and 13 assists for the Nuggets, who have lost 17 straight here dating from January 7, 1997.

Peja Stojakovic scored 26 points on the strength of 6-of-10 shooting from the arc for Sacramento, which was considered by many to be the favorite to win the Pacific Division. Shareef Abdur-Rahim collected 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the loss.

A consolation to the Kings' early struggles is the fact that only one of their first five games have been at home.

Denver is 0-2 away on the road this season.

First real solid performance of the year. Kings started 1-4 also last year and ended up with 50 wins. Let's hope the same happens this season.

Peja, Kings Pay Back Nuggets

A winner in just one of its first five games for the second straight season, Sacramento entered Friday's contest coming off a 107-91 loss in Denver on Wednesday.

However, Stojakovic left little doubt in this one, scoring 15 points in the opening quarter as the Kings built a 29-19 lead.

Normally one of the NBA's best offensive teams, Sacramento came in averaging just over 90 points per game. But coach Rick Adelman's bench trio of Kevin Martin, Jason Hart and Kenny Thomas provided a huge scoring lift in the first half.

The three players combined for 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting in the first 24 minutes for the Kings, who used a 25-8 run to bridge the first and second periods and owned a 61-44 advantage at halftime.

Martin finished with 14 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim chipped in with 12 and nine rebounds for Sacramento.
