Greene, drafted by Boston in the 2005 second round and known for his defense, played a limited role in 80 games for the Celtics and in just 41 games for Indiana last season.
Greene's contract is believed to be for one season and partially guaranteed. But as center Loren Woods learned last season, even sizable guarantees don't ensure a roster spot. Woods, who was guaranteed $300,000, was cut by the Kings just before the regular season. Such is the case for Shakur, as well, with a guarantee of $20,000.
