No Charges Will Be Filed Against Justin Williams!
Not Enough Evidence To Warrant Criminal Charges, Police Say
Quote:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Criminal charges will not be filed against Kings player Justin Williams, the District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday, following allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman at his Natomas home.
According to a press release from the office, the Sacramento police did not find sufficient evidence to warrant the filing of criminal charges.
Police had investigated a victim's claim that she was sexually assaulted early Oct. 12 at Williams' Natomas home. No arrests were made.

I figured I go old school and keep it that way since Artest will probably be traded soon. No more changing names every time your team trades your favorite player!

Now they need to get him reinstated because the bigs on this team stink.
They are probably going to have to cut either Darryl Watkins or Orien Green...I'm hoping it is Green.

Re: No Charges Will Be Filed Against Justin Williams!
Kings' Williams won't be charged
Quote:
"I'm happy it's all said and done," Williams said at his Natomas home Tuesday evening.
Williams, who had been on a leave of absence from the Kings since the allegations were made public last month, said the experience has taught him " to be careful."
"Everyone who knows me knows what type of person I am," he said. "I know I'm a good person."
The DA's office said it would not discuss further details of the case because "it would not serve the interests of the alleged victim, Mr. Williams or the female suspect."
A Sacramento woman had told police that she met Williams and another woman at a party the night of Oct. 11 and went to Williams' Natomas home with the couple, three sources told the Bee last month. The woman did not have anything to drink before arriving at Williams' home, but reported that she felt woozy after having a drink once there, the sources said.
The woman reported the following day that Williams and the other woman had tried to have sex with her, the sources said.
City police said earlier this week there was enough evidence to warrant an investigation into the woman's claims. Police said they investigated the allegations thoroughly and handed over evidence they had gathered to the DA's office Nov. 1.
In a statement released Tuesday, the Police Department said its "detectives can not prove or disprove the allegations in this case."
While refusing to discuss the case in greater detail, the Police Department said in the statement that it supported Scully's decision not to file charges.
Standing outside his home, Williams said the last month had been "really rough."
"I never thought this could happen to me," he said.
He declined to discuss the allegations. However, his attorney, William Portanova, said Williams "never did a single thing wrong."
"He's a young man with a brilliant future and he's learned a hell of a lot about the dangers of being a successful young man," Portanova said.
He said Williams "needs to choose his friends more carefully."
Williams said being away from the Kings the past five weeks has been difficult and that he looks forward to getting back on the basketball court. "I'm going to play harder than ever," he said.
Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie did not return a call for comment Tuesday, but team spokesman Troy Hanson said the organization would comment today.
While the issue of Williams' return to the team appears to be a case of when rather than if, it's unlikely he will travel to Minnesota for tonight's game against the Timberwolves. He last played in a preseason game Oct. 16.
The Kings play New York at Arco Arena on Friday, and could use his defensive and rebounding skills. Entering Tuesday night, the Kings were the worst rebounding team in the NBA and were 27th in points allowed.

While he was placed on a leave of absence after the allegations were revealed, his roster spot was retained and the Kings will not have to make any cuts to bring him back.
