Kevin Martin out 4-6 weeks (groin)
Martin out 4-6 weeks
Quote:
Enjoy this win over Utah Kings fans, but there's bad news that comes with it.
Shooting guard Kevin Martin, who left the game after the third quarter with a strained right groin, is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Big win, bigger loss for Kings
Quote:
But not until long after the Kings' locker room was empty did the air in the room officially seep out: Martin's strained right groin will keep him out four to six weeks.
"Without Kevin, we definitely won't be as good," Kings small forward Ron Artest said. "But we've got to hang in there. We've got to play every possession like it's our last. We've been giving ourselves a chance to win, and we have to give ourselves a chance to see how far we can take this thing."
The thing, of course, being the surging of an expectation-less team.

Damn, that sucks. I like Martin, and this is definitely a big step back for the Kings. Let's see what Artest and Co. can do without him.
Is Bibby expected back soon?

Theus undecided on Martin's replacement
Quote:
After attending Wednesday's Kings practice, the four to six week window for Kevin Martin's return remains the same after he strained his right groin on Tuesday night against Utah.
Coach Reggie Theus says he hasn't decided yet whether to start Francisco Garcia or John Salmons in Martin's place. A magnetic resonance imaging exam has not yet taken place, but is expected to be performed in the next few days.

Don't you love it... the worst I remember was Ricky Williams going high (heh) in July drafts (too early for me but whatever), like 4th to 6th, and then retiring. Poof, no more first-round pick and most leagues avoid that!
Or Steve Smith in 2004, he went fairly high. I guess it frees up a roster spot, at least. Maybe Daunte Culpepper '05 was the worst.
Or when the 2005 Colts start the season with 47 points in their first three games after about 33 per game in 2004.
Pick up John Salmons if you haven't. Garcia looks okay as well.

Re: Kevin Martin out 4-6 weeks (groin)
John Salmons is starting, and KMart is having his MRI today. Sounds like the time table for his return could be shortened a bit.
