Re: Artest could face surgery on right elbow

Yup, sucks.

He'll be out at least 2 weeks if he gets surgery:

Artest surgery probable

Quote:
Reggie Theus sat in his office early Sunday evening, his eyes weary and his tone subdued.

In less than an hour, the Kings' coach would be courtside at Arco Arena in a game against the run-and-gun Phoenix Suns. Theus, though, had just learned of his team's latest setback: Small forward Ron Artest was off to New York to have his right elbow inspected, with all indicators pointing to likely surgery to remove a bone chip and the absence of a third starter for at least two weeks.

Nearly two months into his first season as an NBA coach, Theus couldn't help but ponder the plight of his luckless inaugural campaign.

"I'm a little tired," he admitted. "It's a little bit of everything, but it's OK. I like the fight, I like the battle, but I'm running out of answers."

There are no real answers to replacing the Kings' core of Artest and the injured Mike Bibby and Kevin Martin.

With their 117-102 loss to Phoenix that made the Kings 0-5 in games against Pacific Division opponents, the reeling continued for a team that finished its homestand 0-4 and and fell seven games below .500 for the first time this season. Less than a month after Artest predicted a playoff berth, these are the deepest depths yet.
