New Sacramento Center Has Championship Plans
Jul 29, 7:21 PM (ET)
By GREG BEACHAM
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Brad Miller knew he'd probably be forced to leave his native Indiana as an NBA free agent. When his destination turned out to be Sacramento, he didn't mind the move so much.
"My agent came to me and said, 'Sacramento.' I said, 'Ooh! That's a championship next year,"' Miller said Tuesday.
The Kings acquired the 7-foot All-Star center from the Pacers last week in a three-team trade. Sacramento sent backup center Scot Pollard to the Kings and traded swingman Hedo Turkoglu to San Antonio to acquire Miller, considered one of the top free agents on the market this summer.
The trade was another bold move by Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie, who sacrificed a bit of his team's famed depth to land an up-and-coming center who's expected to replace Vlade Divac soon. Miller signed a seven-year, $68 million contract with Indiana moments before the trade.
While meeting Kings employees and touring Arco Arena on his first trip to town as a member of the Kings, Miller wore a cap with the retro script and powder-blue lettering from Kings uniforms past.

Hmm... Old men who give young guys spankings? Lakers are pedophile?
It'd explain why, in that fast food commercial, O'Kneel shows up at a school yard wearing a long trench coat in summer.

Wasn't the Kings supposed to win it all last year, also (due to the Mike Bibby HYPE)?
Settle down, Miller, you are due to a rude awakening if you think this year will be a walk in the park...

It won't be a walk in the park. But you are the one who is in for rude awakening if you dismiss the Kings.
As far as I can tell, the Kings would have won it all last year, but injury to Webber ruined the plan. Just like they would have won it the year before if Stojakovic didn't suffer the injury.
If the Kings stay healthy they're my favorite to take the rings.

IF all teams are relatively injury free and IF the new guys addapt to their roles, i say there's 4 teams who could win it all.
With that thought in mind:
1- Lakers (remeber the pressumptions above! And even without Kobe, if it happens);
2- Spurs (the champs are even better, IMO);
3- Kings (nice pick up, Brad Miller);
4- Wolves.
Not one of these teams will get a free ride...
