Incentives in the NBA
It's a pretty simple question, but one which I don't really understand.
Why are there very few contracts given to NBA players with incentives in them? The few that are out their are basically towards the "heavier" players or "troubled" players I believe. For example, Vin Baker (and Shawn Kemp?) had a contract with incentives if he battled Alcoholism and his weight.
Why don't NBA teams use incentives to push players to become All-Stars, or go far in the play-offs. I know that usually there is a small reward, but why is it that their are hardly any real incentive contracts?
Just wondering!
