Just curious here, particularly of the matter of Ron Artest's suspension for the year without pay.

Since Artest isn't getting paid for the rest of the season, does his contract not count against the Pacers cap this season? Or do they still have to account for it?

Yes, Artest's contract still does count agains the cap. The only money the Pacers can use to sign free agents is whatever leftover exceptions they may have, or signing guys to the minimum.

Looks like they don't have to pay most of that money, good for the Pacers.

Yep, but their salaries still count against the cap.
