Or they should just pay those players less. And pay those people who provide us food and drinks (not McDonalds) more, instead of those who just bring us enterntainment, the nba can find some of those guys on the street, where they don't pay them as much.

Its pretty messed up that surgeons who save peoples lives make maybe $1 million+ in a year, but Shaq/Zo/K.G. will all be making $20+ million this season, just for putting a ball in a basket!
Then again,if someone offered me $120 million for 6 or 7 years to play ball,I sure as hell WOULDNT turn them down!

1) My point exactly
2) Well yeah anyone would accept it but the problem is that they didn't ask for it, the players (or you would) demand it.

I think that the cap should be raised and make it a hard tax. As we go along they will have to raise the cap anyways even if they keep it in the current situation (which I don't mind, just like a hard cap better.) The cap is in place to keep all teams in around the same price area. And Luxury tax is just to punish teams that go over.
Last year my Knicks were over the cap and were going to have a pay a big luxury tax, though they were horrible, but for once Jordan actually helped us. Jordan's always been known as a Knick killer, but he raised the price of the league just for him coming, so much more money was raised. That the knicks and Portland didn't have to pay these taxes.

Stupid GM's that give too much to marginal players eventually get caught without enough money to spend on their good players.... smart GM's keep their good players with money to spare on the subs.
By the way, if the cap is set at a reasonable level, then eventually the best players that want the most money will be forced to play for some of the lesser teams with cap-room, which is a good thing for the small market teams. This is kinda what is happening in the NFL... they have a "hard cap", but they also have non-guaranteed contracts. This is why you see many decent veterans being cut or being asked to restructure their contracts with 2 or 3 years left becuase the team needs more cap room to sign another player. The vet may have to take a pay cut, but heck, they are still making millions! Because of this, small market teams can compete.... Green Bay, Tennessee, Denver, etc.

Exactly, no matter how high the cap is, there has to be an enforcment to keep the teams under, otherwise the cap is completly useless. They really need to improve the system in baseball, i dont even watch it anymore, sports should be about teams all having the same conditions, and then see what they can do with that, instead of having someteams get twice as much to use as another. That just sucks.

They should put a limit to how much a player can be paid, maybe by age? Maybe even have a 15 million max for a superstar.

Yeah they definitly should, that would help organize the league alot better, and who needs any more than 15 mil anyway?
