2) James and Anthony. Remember, the cap is based on expected revenues for the coming year - and you have to believe that the league will be promoting the heck out of these two new stars to try to jumpstart attendance figures, merchandise sales, etc.

National TV revenues are supposed to increase by 3 percent or perhaps a bit less. However, the way the national TV deal is structured is likely to lead to lower local TV deals.
The salary cap is based up the national TV revenue plus 108 percent of non-national TV revenue from the previous year - with some adjustments if revnues came in too low in the previous year. James and Anthony will not have an effect on the salary cap until 2004-05. They will, however, affect the 2003-04 luxury tax threshold.
