Multiple team trades rules
Can someone point me to a source that explains the multiple trading rules for 2- team trades and above?

Yeah I read it, but I couldn't find anything either. Can someone explain to me why people like Shaq have salaries like 26 million when it states that the maximum salary for a 10+ year veteran is only 15 million?

search for CBA stuff. it's out there. Guys before the new CBA are still entitled to raises, which is why Shaq and KG still make so much.
multi-team deals work the same as 2 team deals. You can only take back what you give out within the same parameters if over the cap.

I believe that once you get to a certain salary (maybe the $15 million you mention), the max is a percentage based off your previous salary. For a player like Shaq, he signed a huge contract before the current CBA was put in place, so for a guy like him the max is higher than any player nowadays can hope for.
Trades with more than two teams work exactly as two team trades do. Unless you're under the cap, you have to take back the same as what you send out (give or take 15%).
Also, I moved this to the Salaries and CBA forum. One of the experts here like So Cal Blazer Fan will be better suited to giving you an exact answer.

Sure. New contracts are limited to the maximum value established by the CBA. However, if a veteran has Bird rights, he can sign an extension or a new contract for 105% of what he made the previous year. This is the situation that allowed Shaq to make $24.75 million this year, since he made $23.57 million in 2002-03. It's a 'grandfather' clause of sorts.
BTW, Garnett's contract was signed under the old CBA which didn't have the maximum limits that are part of the current CBA, which helps to explain why he's making so much this year.

Exactly. If a team is over the cap, they must use an exception to make a trade that brings in more salary than is sent out. Either use a trade exception or make a trade using the Assigned Player exception (the 115% + $100,000 rule).
This is true whether the trade is made with one other team involved or ten other teams.

Sorry, I was trying to ask about trading between teams for 2 or more players. I was trying out trades on the RealGM trade checker, does the assigned player exception apply to 1-1 players from each team, or is it the total trade value? I calculated and it was nowhere near the 115%+100,000, yet it was accepted.

Maybe a team has a trade exception. Which teams/players are we talking about here?
Also, a team can always take on a minimum salary player in a trade even without cap room. That's another exception.

I tried trading Boozer, Big Z and Wagner for Juwan Howard, Stevenson and Grant Hill. The total contracts don't really match up, or is it something to do with clauses?
