After Elson was hurt in the first half, team officials said he suffered an impingement to the shoulder, which can occur when the collar bone is jammed into the rotator cuff. Elson played eight minutes in the second half, but was hurting after the game.

Elson was re-examined Wednesday.

Brent Barry returned to practice Wednesday, but the Spurs were still missing Manu Ginobili and Matt Bonner. Jacque Vaughn, the latest team member to come down with the stomach flu, also missed the workout.

Popovich said Eric Williams and Jackie Butler will get more minutes in Elson's absence.

We really need Manu for the game against the Jazz. Let's hope he recovers in time. Elson will be missed too but at least we'll get to see why the Spurs acquired Jackie Butler.

any one have an update on elson?

Last I heard was that he is still expected back around mid January, maybe as early as next week.
