Robert Swift Questions

What do you expect from Robert Swift this season? What type of player do you think he will become?

Come on man, you got to vote no. I mean, when asked the question, "what type of player will swift become," the obviously answer is no.

This season, i'm not expecting much at all. He's coming straight from high school and he's not ready physically. The only playing time I expect him to get is garbage time at the end blowouts. Maybe some regular minutes at the end of the season if we are out of the playoff race. Probably somewhere between 250-500 minutes total. In terms of stats, he will probably put up something like 2 ppg, 2rpg and 0.5 bpg.

What i'm hoping is that we get a buffed up 260+ lbs Swift for the 05-06 season. With James and Pot likely gone in FA, he should get regular minutes and perhas even the starting job, depending on how quickly he develops. That may be asking too much of him though...

I have no idea what type of player he will become in his prime, i'll need to see him play first to make a better judgement. But, going off scouting reports, best case scenario seems to be a 15 ppg, 10 rpg and 3 bpg center with great defense. Worse case scenario, he never develops and is a scrub/3rd string center.

btw - do you want me to fix the poll ? it doesn't make sense...

I agree with Scinos' assessment, for the most part. However, it sounds like he is expecting something on the lines of Darko's rookie year, I expect more than that. I think he could pull J-Os rookie year, he's playing behind bad centers.

I think he potential of this guy was too much to pass up at the Sonics pick. I haven't seen him play, but from what I read he sounds like a possible steal. Will be looking forward to the games.

i voted for kerry......wrong poll.
as for swift i believe he is still only 18 years old so there is plenty of time for him to develope. i dont think you will see a darko situation because you dont have a larry brown here trying to prove a point. if the organization feels strongly enough to draft him and suit him up they will find minutes(limited) for him. getting rid of calvin booth certainly helped free up some of those minutes.

"Fortson, that's all he does - makes free throws and pushes."

Danny Fortson in reference to the anonymous Sonic who tattle taled to the Seattle-Times...

"I think somebody on this team might have girlish characteristics that need to be turned into a man. Because if we're going to win, we need warriors. We don't need girls. Girls are for the dance team."

Fortson also said "he wouldn't doubt it" if there were a gay player in the NBA but hopes he's not a Sonic.

"That would be a bad deal," Fortson said. "He might want to keep that one in the closet."

IMO Swift has two things going against him. One is that he is a white American born center. That's never a good sign. Secondly he's lazy. Now the second part of this I really can't say is gospel like the first part, but watching him warm up, and in the game yesterday he looked disinterested. And one final thought.......For all of you who said anything but scrub out of the league......Joel Przybilla tore him up. That definately doesn't speak well for the young man.

He's 18 years old. I've never heard that Swift is lazy and in fact, he tries to dunk everything in sight. You have to love that about a Center.
