The second preseason game for the Sonics is tonight. I'm expecting us to play the bench players more tonight, as the starters played heavily last night against the Lakers. Game should be on KJR at 7 pm (according to the schedule). As usual, i'll listen and give some feedback at the end.

Prediction: 90 - 86 Blazers.

(I figure Ray and Rashard won't see much playing time).

36-18 Blazers.

Sonics not playing well, 8-30 FG. Although, we are giving bench players alot of minutes...Cleaves, Young, Swift, Kutluay etc.

48-39 Blazer, halftime.

We cut the 20 point blazer lead down to 9 with (basically) the summer league team of Cleaves, Young, Radman, Collison, Swift.

Sounds like Swift is playing good, 5 rebounds and a couple of blocks in 9 minutes.

Final score: Blazers 93, Sonics 73.

Not really a surprising result when you look at the boxscore though, the summer league guys played a lot of minutes. Link

Some thoughts...

- Robert Swift was the positive in this game, IMO. He had 7 boards. I'm just happy that he held his own out there, and I think he should get some minutes this season.

- Radman played big minutes and made a few nice plays, but overall wasn't good.

- Ibo has a nice shot and made some jumpers. Unfortunately, DA lit him up on the other end. He's Richie Frahm minus the defense.

- Wilkins, Young and Cleaves played well (apart from some turnovers). It's going to be a tough decision on who gets the final roster spot.

Other random thoughts: JJ is still a dolt. Fortson is as advertised, will be better than Booth for us. Lewis at the 2 doesn't work. AD had another average (at best) game, starting PG is going to be Luke I think.

For a guy his size and skill level, Lewis is sadly not versatile at all.... I've given up any hope of him becoming a future all-star

Haha. I guess we shouldn't expect him to play defense. He was brought in for his shooting and will just be playing a 3rd sting role anyway. It was more hope that he would be ok on defense.

I'm not sure this is a fair assessment of AD though. I think Luke will start and thats pretty much been pre-determined going into the season, BUT in the Lakers game Luke had Ray and Rashard starting with him and basically got the regular rotation minus Fortson. In the game AD starts he gets Lewis at the two and a mess of summer league guys playing around him.

Too bad Murray's not healthy right now as his prescence would bring a totally third act into perspective, or at least a good running mate for either Luke or AD in that second unit. Right now really our only two guys that can create offense for themselves both sat out last night, its tough to judge those left in that kind of vacuum.
