KA,Forte deal...Thoughts?
I know you all have heard of the trade that will be going down today or tommorrow with the Celts involving Vin Baker,Shammond Williams for Kenny Anderson,Vitaly Potapenko and Joe Forte.
My thought is this, we ARE getting rid of Baker and his ENORMOUS K which has a niceness to it,getting back another PG makes no sense to me. Other than the fact that Anderson's contract is over with next year and we will be getting Forte who is albeit undersized but has some ability to score.
All in all, I ain't gonna be mad at the orginzation for this one. Boston fans on the other hand...
WHat does the rest yall think about this one??

I really like the Trade, Bakers Contact is now Bostons Contact and getting Forte for Willams semse good to me.
Forte might develop to a good PG, he did not really have a chance to show what he can do, although he will not get much time behind Payton and Anderson.
To have 2 starting PG also seems nice to me, Nash/van Exel or Bibby/Jackson did work quite good together last season, Payton is not getting any younger and Anderson will take some playing time of him, so he will be fresh when he needs to be fresh.
The problem of the trade is of course, that no real PF is left in the Roster, but Radmanovic can play PF in the Sonic System as he showed when Baker was injured last season, Drobnjak and Potapenko also can play the position and ad some inside Power when needed.
After the season Andersons contract ends and there will be many PF on the FA-market.

I think it's a good trade for both teams. But from Sonics perspective, it's good because they get a player with lots of potential in Joe Forte, and an expiring contract in Kenny Anderson. Vitaly can provide a big man off of the bench.

I think it is awsome trade I mean no big contract and we get forte and he looks awsome and he could be our point gaurd if gary payton leaves. The only bad thing is we got anorther center and we re-signed james so we have like 4 centers hopefuly we can make a trade with orlando to take booth and his big contract.

It obviously doesn't matter what Joe Forte ever does in this league, nor does it matter how well Kenny Anderson meshes with Gary Payton, Brent Barry, and Desmond Mason in the Sonics backcourt--the BOTTOM LINE is that the Sonics FINALLY dumped Vinny Baker! We can ask, "Who is going to play power forward for Seattle" after this trade--but weren't we asking this question BEFORE the trade?
I'd like to see the Sonics make Donyell Marshall an offer--this guy is a good fit at PF in Seattle's up-tempo offense, he can be had at a ROCK BOTTOM PRICE in this season's owner-friendly free agent market, and I'm not sure if Utah will even MATCH or TOP another team's offer!
And I'm STILL not particularly worried about Rashard Lewis--this dude is flirting with Dallas only to put the fear of God in Seattle--and I don't think it's working. Seattle can STILL offer this dude more than anybody else can, he knows it, they know it. Lewis will NOT get a max offer from Seattle, nor does he DESERVE a max offer from Seattle (or anybody else, for that matter).

as for forte becoming a pt guard down the road, they tried it at unc and it didnt work and they tried it some in boston and it didnt work, people have to stop trying to make short 2g's into pt guards, such as gilbert arenas in warrior land.i also would rather see the soups do a sign and trade with lewis going for a pf and then they can play vlade at the 3 where he seems more comfortable.if that brought a donyell marshall, kurt thomas or a brian grant or even marcus fizer and jamal crawford that would be fine with me.

Dude, the Sonics just dumped Vinny Baker and his godawful longterm contract on somebody--and you think we should go get BRIAN GRANT? Do you know how much money that dude makes?
Marcus Fizer = tweener
Kurt Thomas = tough competitor but nothing special, certainly not worth a Rashard Lewis
Donyell Marshall = nice fit at PF for the Sonics, but not in exchange for Rashard Lewis
BOTTOM LINE: When Rashard Lewis doesn't come to his senses and realize that Seattle is making him not only a FAIR offer but the BEST offer he can get in today's economic climate, I will believe it--until then, I will assume that he is going to re-sign with the Sonics!
