Collison > Wilcox??
Collison is stringing some very solid performances together. I haven't seen any of the games, but I was wondering if anyone thinks he's getting close to superseeding Wilcox as our first picked bigman?

Collison is still someone we can't rely on in our offense. He's never going to be more than a hustle player.

Agree but disagree. I think Nick has been under-utilized with us. This is only his 3rd year in the NBA and he has always played in the shadows of Allen/Lewis and now Wilcox. Plays are never ran for him...he gets most of his points off hustle plays and put backs.
With some plays ran specifically for him I think he can be a legitimate scoring threat. Ever since college he has been a little undersized, but he has amazing footwork in the post, and like you said hustle. He also has good positioning when it comes to boxing out and grabbing boards. If you check back he always grabs a decent amount of rebounds accorind got his play time.
Over the last 3 games he has 20+ points each game, a couple blocks, along with a steal or two and something like 21, 9, and 13 rebounds. If the Sonics continue to utilize Nick like he should be I think he can continue to be a successful player for us. Even if he averages close to these numbers he will be far better than Wilcox and a very good forward.

I missed the Jazz game, so I didn't get to see his 25 point performance. He looks too slow to be a threat, but I'll keep watch on the games to see if I'm wrong.

He is definitely a little slow... but he makes up for it with awesome footwork and hustle.

Footwork is something we can all learn though. I don't doubt Collison's skill. I doubt his physical talent. Someone as limited as he is (by the NBA big man standard) isn't likely to be a legitimate threat.

I see it this way, I believe Collison and Boris Diaw are almost the same player really dont play above the rim but are solid at their positions. If Diaw can make it work so can Collison in Seattle.

How are they the same player? They don't play the same position, they don't play the same way at all, and they have completely different talents.

Re: Collison > Wilcox??
I've seen enough to know Diaw and Collison have nothing in common. If playing below the rim is a shared attribute, put me in the same category as Steve Nash.
