Durant Shines
Quote:
Las Vegas, July 14, 2007 -- With Lebron James sitting courtside, Kevin Durant had his best performance of the NBA Summer League. It wasn’t enough though as the Golden State Warriors edged the Seattle Sonics 85-74 on Friday evening.
Golden State held an 80-72 advantage with under two minutes remaining. Then Durant hit a jumper with 1:11 left to cut the advantage to six, but Seattle wasn’t able to score the rest of the way.
Durant returned to the lineup after missing the previous game while he was taping the ESPY’s in Los Angeles. He ended the evening with a game-high 32 points despite shooting just 39.1 percent from the floor (9-23 FG), grabbed three rebounds and had four steals in 35 minutes.
“Every game I’m trying to play harder on defense,” Durant said. “I think tonight I did O.K.”
Meanwhile, Marco Belinelli struggled to find his stroke once again. The Italian guard registered 16 points however he shot just 27.2 percent from the floor in his summer league finale. Belinelli is scheduled to return to Italy tomorrow afternoon and will miss the Warriors last game versus the Knicks tomorrow. He finished the summer league averaging 22.8 points while shooting 43.6 percent in four games.
“He’s a great player,” Durant said of Belinelli. “You can see why he’s been killing throughout this (NBA) Summer League.”
Warriors guard Toby Bailey continued his exceptional shooting this summer league. Bailey netted a team-high 17 points while shooting 55.5 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from beyond the arc. In four games he’s shooting 54.5 percent from the floor (18-33 FG) and 72.7 percent from long distance (8-11 3FG).
With the win, the Warriors improved to 3-1 while the Sonics dropped to 0-4.

Re: Durant Shines
i hardly think going 9-23 and having 3 rebounds in 35 minutes constitutes "shining"...but it definitely was his best scoring performance of the summer

The title on nba.com was kind of a let down.

Re: Durant Shines
Has he had an assist yet? I know he hadn't in the first two games, and didn't see one last night.
Green is gonna be a really good player. Talk about a total all around game.

Re: Durant Shines
Didnt want to start another thread but Jeff Green was absolutely fantastic last night. The game comes very easy to him. Extremely high Bball IQ.

Yeah he is a good player.
I think Green can average 12-14 points per game this season, and with KD averaging 18-22 a game, thats a nice chunk from our rookies.

Re: Durant Shines
Its just the summer league.
However, I think it will continue to be frustrating to watch him as there's no one to deflect defensive attention away from him right now. Especially if he isn't passing. I know he probably didn't have to pass in high school and I don't think he passed much in college. If he's going to do the things expected of him in the NBA, he'll need to start picking up assists.

Actually smart *** for summer league the box scores are not at all accurate. I was wondering if someone had seen the games to let me know. Thanks for taking the time to respond though.
