And you another ignorant outsider that likes to comment without realizing the situation. We are that are in Seattle and the general area, are Seattle SuperSonic fans. Not Oklahoma Sonic fans, not KC Sonic fans. There is only a small, insignigicant population who would follow a team that abandons them. We care
about what's now, not what's in the future. Because they'd just be another away team if they left.
The point is, the Sonics will not be 8th seed contender no matter what they do to their roster. The pieces are already set in Durant and Green, you cannot develop them and win at the same time. Perhaps in 2 years, but not this year, and most likely not next year as well. What you are suggesting is attempt a quick fix by trading away something that will become much valuable a couple years down the road for something you can use right now. The likely result is you give away potential and still end up with a 25-30 win team instead of a rock bottom team. It's moronic, and I don't know why you are suggesting such as it's not helpful no matter where the team ends up.

Again, I'll repeat myself. The fans are going to come out to see Kevin Durant. They are not going to come out to watch a 30 win team or a borderline playoff team (the best case scenario). From the organization's standpoint, if it wants to stay in Seattle, they would bite the bullet for a couple more years and deliver a perennial contender that will fill the seats for perhaps the next decade. If the organization has their mind set on leaving, again, they will do what's best for the team in the long run so that they can be successful in OK. They are not going to trade away their potential for becoming a championship caliber team in order to pack a few more seats next year.

Even if what you're suggesting does indeed happen. If the team ends up stuck in mediocrity, which means a borderline playoff team the next few seasons as a result of trading away potential for quick fixes, the team will lose even more fans down the road which will result in the team moving away anyway. It will not save the team from moving away from Seattle no matter which way you look at it.

Re: Saer Sene - Bust Talk Is Laughable

You still don't get it, Seattle would have struggled to make the playoffs even with Allen and Lewis.
Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio, Utah, Houston, Golden State, Denver, Portland, Memphis, New Orleans, Clippers(W/ Brand).
All those teams are better than Seattle would have been. The youth and new talent on the team will make it an interesting group to watch. Trading away a 7-footer who has shown flashes of reaching his potential is stupid.

You would rather be stuck in mediocrity for the next few seasons than suffer through 2-3 years of rebuilding and then turn into a championship caliber team?
Seattle made ALL the right moves this off-season. They traded away an aging vet, with injury problems, for a draft pick and expiring contracts, and picked up a potential stud in Green. They drafted the best player in the draft, IMO, in Durant. They traded for a great locker room guy and leader in Kurt Thomas plus they got 2 1st round draft picks. They didn't give Lewis the ridiculous contract he wanted. All he can do is score, that is his one talent is scoring and he's not even an elite scorer.

However none of this matters because the team is going to move to OKC because they won't make the playoffs this year and fans won't support that. Not sure why fans wouldn't come watch the Sonics play, they are going to be very interesting to watch, should be competitive in every game, and watching Durant and Green learn the NBA game and learn to play together should be fun to watch.

Re: Saer Sene - Bust Talk Is Laughable

I have a couple of points to add. First off, even if Clay asks the NBA to move the team, they are not going to automatically let him do it. The team has a 40-year history in Seattle and a lease for Key Arena with The City of Seattle that expires in 2010. After last week's exchange between Clay and Mayor Nickels, Nickels is not in too much of a hurry to let the Sonics out of theri lease obligations early.

Second, the Sonics need to get going on promoting the new-look Sonics. Yes, the team may be on their way out of town eventually, but at least try to rejuvenute the local fan base again. The Sonics ought to be fun to watch this season, even if they do lose 50+ games. I have my pair of season tickets purchased, and I plan to go to most of the home games.

Good point. Right now, Seattle Sonic fans would rather want a quick fix than to develop, because of the team's uncertainty. If they were to stay, this wouldn't be a problem.

I'm not sure if you speaking on the majority behalf of all Sonics fans but it is pretty hard to have a quick fix now that part of the pieces (Durant/Green) have come together. I don't see Sonics management bringing in any pieces this year that would push them into a playoff appearance. It's obvious that Sonics fans want to see a winning product on the court but this year, the number one reason to go would be to go see The Kevin Durant Show (feat. Jeff Green).
