Durant To Represent Sonics At Lottery

Kevin Durant, the NBA's 2008 Rookie of the Year, will represent the Sonics at the Draft Lottery later this month, according to the Seattle News-Tribune.

The Lottery will be held on May 20 in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Seattle has a 19.9% chance of getting the top pick in this June's Draft after finishing with the league's second-worst record.

In March, we were salivating over the idea that the Sonics could land both Durant and Beasley in back-to-back years. A few of the GMs I spoke with thought it would be an amazing combination. Beasley and Durant are close friends and, together, they could give the Sonics the most potent inside-outside, young scoring duo in the league.

However, the Sonics, too, have become enamored with Rose, and a source close to the team said the idea of matching an elite point guard next to Durant would be too good to pass up.

either one will do. Honestly it wont matter because in 5 years Seattle/Oklahoma City will be contending for the #1 seed in the West annually.

Not only do they get a top 5 pick this year, but next year they have 2 first rounders, and in 2010 they have 2 first rounders. Looking at Sam Presti's track record in San Antonio drafting players, and this year(Durant, Green, Landry who we traded) i think he knows how to draft.

Yeah Seattle is in good shape for the future.........

yeah presti knows how to draft, for sure. he drafted 3 players in one draft who all turned out to be better than anyone sund drafted in 10 years. (granted durant was a given)

If it isn't Rose, I don't know who Presti will pick. It won't be Beasley, because scoring and rebounding isn't a weakness. It won't be Gordon or Lopez, because Presti knows better.

I think they draft a PG to pair with KD......that means either Bayless or Rose, depending on how generous the lottery is to them. Im not gonna lie tho, Rose and KD would be scary and just flat out unfair!

I became a Sonics fan when i was in the Navy a while back. I was stationed in Bangor Washington. I live in New York now but still a fan, so id still be a fan when/if they move to Oklahoma City. I feel for the people who live in Washington though.
