Because of the fact that Barry has proven that he can shoot the ball w/ consistancy and effectivly pass the ball, then more plays should be called for him. Of the games I've seen, I did not see his number called when a basket was needed. Barry was either sitting on the bench or left out of the play as the other players blew the play. That is not using him properly. Barry has the ablility to make something happen. He scored over 20 points only 3 times last year. In the playoffs his scoring almost dipped to half of his average. (He did explode in the last game.) I think the Sonics need to create more plays to get him free and take advantage of his shooting abliltiy. Barry has the ablilty to average over 20-25 points a game. Let him pass the ball more since he does have the eyes of a point guard. He is a smart basketball player and a great team player. Reward him and get him the rock! He can be a 20-25 pts and 8-10 assists a game player.

Guys...Desmond Mason will not start over Brent Barry. Barry is a very good, very well-rounded player. I think you guys are just looking at PPG and saying that's not enough for a SG. A player doesn't need to be Kobe Bryant to have a monster year. Look at his stats...(from hoopsavenue.com)

14.4 PPG (18th among SG)
5.4 RPG (5th among SG)
5.3 APG (7th among SG)
1.8 SPG (4th among SG - 13th in NBA)
0.5 BPG (10th among SG)
.508 FG% (2nd among SG - 9th in NBA)
.424 3P% (10th among SG - 13th in NBA)
.846 FT%
8th in NBA in 3-pt. made (164) and 11th in attempted (387)
.89 SPT (9th among SG - 14th in NBA)
