Honestly, Ronaldinho might be the best player in the world but is he worthy of the World Player of the Year 2006?

Zidane did nothing apart from 3-4 games in the World Cup.

Henry deserves this trophy and its ridiculous that he does not even get nominated.

I think that FIFA especially S.Blatter is kissing Zizou`s *** even when he is retired. And top 3 still should be Canna, Buffon and Henry. I dont hate Henry, I would be crazy if he is in my team but to me he is one of the biggest losers in 2006, did nothing in 2 biggest games of the year if not his career.
Canna and Buffon may not success in Champion League but they did well for Juve in Serie A last year and especially they shined in the greatest sport competition in the world.

And why it has to be an attacking player? They want attacking football, cool but why dont think like this: when you give a defender or a goalkeeper an award, that means they recognize their contribution and after that the attacking players have to be better to beat those defending players. I think that is football development..

I disagree with you. In the World Cup, he played like one of the world's best and in the final, was the only person who looked liked getting a winner besides Zidane in both teams.


There's nothing wrong with having Cannavaro and Ronaldinho in the top 3 but Henry over Zidane is ridiculous.

Zidane being in the top 3 is a joke, when does playing 2 good games makes you WPOY? This is disgusting and futbol would lose all its credibility if he won this award. What a joke.

Henry should be the one winning this or Eto'o for that matter if he didn't get injured. What a joke that Zidane made it to the finale 3. stupid.

Players like C.Ronaldo and Drogba were left out of this is a shame. C.Ronaldo clearly had a better WC than Zidane if we're going to jude this award by looking at their performances in the WC. Canna has no place in the top 3. It should had been, Henry, Ronaldinho, Eto'o (Drogba and C.Ronaldo, Kaka) with Henry winning it even though I love Eto'o but that man was snubbed many times from winning this so he fully deserve it this time around. It is a popularity contest like you said ever since 1999 when Rivaldo won it, oops since the last time Figo won it.
