Football Manager
I'm playing FM08. Its pretty fun game.
Anyone else playing it?
Just one issue though. I'm managing my beloved Revolution. In season one, I won the US Open Cup and had a traditional losing of the MLS Cup Final. I won the supporters shield for best regular season team. This year, I won the North American Champion's League and SuperLiga and I lost the US Open Cup Final. I'm nine ahead of the next best team in the league. And the board isn't going to renew my contract.

Re: Football Manager
This game is pretty much the source of my procrastination.....
The game was a bit flawed initially but the patch sure fixed it up. I'm still waiting on a super cool skin to be released, some of the ones for 2007 were sick.
Right now I'm managing Newcastle and I got them top 3rd place in the EPL in my first season but that was after playing with ManUtd for a bit so I pretty much knew which players were gonna be class. Giles Barnes is absolutely ridiculous for me, he scored 22 goals for me playing as a AM.

I played it for 6 or 7 seasons a while ago it crashed and Im lazy so I quit :P I have to play it on the PC cause my Laptop only have 256MB RAM and I work or use my laptop more often.
It is a good game, a little buggy, I got Gilardino hated himself lol
After alots of success with Milan I went to Chelsea, after a half of season it crashed out.

Re: Football Manager
I'm still playing FM07 because I don't want to start a new game just yet. I also like to update my games once every 2 years rather than every year. Guess I'm weird that way.
Anyway, this game sucks up a LOT of my time. I love it.
How's 08? Is it revolutionary enough to upgrade? Hehe...

Re: Football Manager
Man the last time I played a managerial game was Tracksuit Manager and Championship manager and that was a few years ago. I really liked it, and I think I might just get myself one of these again.
Whats the best managerial game out there?

Re: Football Manager
Footy Manager is definitely the best out there. It's way addictive. I'm still hooked on 2007 and I've finished about eight seasons.

Football Manager is more or less considered the pinnacle of managerial games. It popularized (created too?) the genre as Championship Manager. Then EA bought it and turned it to ****, so the creators formed FM. 2008 has a different look to it, but it's still pretty similar to 2007. It's got this in-game feature explanation setup that will help beginners, but frustrate experienced players (I just turned it off).
I got hooked, then my board sold off my two best players at £50mill and £46mill since the offers were too good. Of course my team is stacked and I could get even more depth with that money so I'd prob still finish top of league and do well in Europe, but it pissed me off to no end.
I agree that pre-patch has some issues. Unfortunately, I haven't played the game with a patch yet since I acquired the game through some shady methods.

Re: Football Manager
I'm actually playing it right now. I'm in my 3rd season with Nottingham Forest and I am in 11th place in the Coca-Cola Championship. There's about 20 games left so I really need to step it up if I am to get into the Premiership!

Re: Football Manager
For 2008, whaddya all think of Mati Fernandez? He was the best left winger I've seen in any FM game for the time when I had 2008 (pre-formatting). Never lost the ball and you could count on him to grab an assist nearly every game.

I remember playing the first championship manager in the early 90s, but before that I had played a game called "The Manager" and incidentally "Football Manager" with commodore 64, no less. that must have been in the 80s, because I got my first PC in 1990.
but I agree about the popularizing thing.
