To answer your question, well it really depends what kind of audience you are talking about here, I'm assuming you are talking about Americans, and the American mentality towards sports is simple, fast pace, physical, and therefore would probably prefer the EPL. The amount of diving and flops in La Liga would generally put a lot of people off of La Liga.

So the Keane to Liverpool deal is all but complete for £19 million + £1.3 to be added later. Obviously I would have preferred to have seen Villa wearing a Reds shirt at the beginning of next season but Keane is undoubtedly a quality player that Spurs will miss greatly. It also helps that Keane is an admitted lifelong fan of Liverpool so its great to have picked up a player of his caliber who is excited at the prospect of playing for us.
No further news on the Barry situation/fiasco it seems ... so hopefully I'll be reading less Barry rumors and (hopefully) more about a move for a Mr. David Silva.

Local players always cost more. Just look at what Spurs dropped on Bent last year...
Keane is one heck of a player though.
Torres and Keane is going to be one pacey strikeforce. Can definately seeing Liverpool scoring a bundle of goals next year...

But Wenger has paid way over the odds for some players e.g. Reyes.
Gareth Barry is a great player, and I think he is worth that 15million. Maybe not much more, but to Villa he is worth more because he is their only star.

How exactly does Fenerbahce pay less for Dani Guiza (27 goals in 37 appearances with Mallorca) than Liverpool does for Robbie Keane?
I realize that its native talent and what not, but that's still absurd to me.

Dani Guiza is a nice player but his game wouldn't translate well to the Premiership. Robbie Keane's game on the other hand has proved it does...

reyes was 20 and already proven in the best league in the world when wenger bought him. according to wikipedia the initial fee was £10,5M, which is/was not that much, actually.
I'm still a bit sad he couldn't get used to living in london and getting kicked around by neville brothers. even though his career has been going downhill in spain, I'd still welcome him back to gooners.
and no one knows what the fee was in the end.
