Incredibly smart. English players are ridiculously over priced and you have to buy them so young to beat out the big clubs that they aren't worth anywhere close to what you must pay. French players are much cheaper and you can get them when they are 23+ after they have established themselves. Every club should be doing this, although I think the best value is in recession crushed Spain right now (see: Michu).
