Then again, Real have been pretty poor, they aren't really a team to cower over right now; I think Mourinho's aura might be wearing off and it's time to move onto another team.
And then you may very well draw Barca if you're 2nd place. Go for 1st place, there's a 1 in 5 chance Madrid draw us, but there's also a 1 in 7 chance we draw Real(assuming both we and Schalke win our group).

Who are your top 5 teams in Europe?

Probably Barca, Bayern, Real, Dortmund, and... I kind of want to say Shakhtar.

Mexes goal was ridiculous. He has all the talent in the world, he just has the heart of a gnat.

Still, the goal didn't touch Ibra.

Re: Champions League 2012/13

Talked about this question to someone else (a Man U fan) and they suggested Juve and Porto for my top 5. Juve lack a top quality attack, so I think they aren't quite in the elite category, but I did forget about Porto. I think they're on par with Shakhtar. That midfield is really really fantastic with Fernando, Lucho Gonzalez, Moutinho, and Defour. Plus James and the surprisingly good Jackson Martinez up top.

And nothing against United, for what it's worth if you realllly pressed me I might say they are the best team in England. All those teams are close though. United has the coaching advantage, Chelsea has the players, and City have... I guess second place in both.

Let's see how the season breaks down.

It's still a couple months in.

I don't think you can include Shakhtar in the Top 5 until they actually prove they belong. They are like Lyon a couple of years ago, always close, but could never break through.

Re: Champions League 2012/13

Well, okay, I suppose if you asked me for a list of teams who could win the CL, I might put Man U and Juve ahead of Shakhtar and Porto, but then again maybe not. Knocking on the door for years doesn't guarantee that you'll win this time, or that you won't win. What did Porto do before Mourinho took them to the title? For that matter, what did Liverpool do before 2005? I just think Shakhtar and Porto are better teams.

And Shakhtar at least HAS been successful recently. They were eliminated by Barca in the QFs in 2011, but looked like the second best team in that competition, and in 2009 they won the Euro League. It might not seem relevant, but they have largely kept the same team together for years. It's amazing to me that they have managed to keep Fernandinho, Willian, Douglas Costa, and Srna in cold ass Donetsk for so long. Eduardo is back, Chygrynskiy is back, Rakitskiy is really good, and Mkhitaryan looks to be a legitimate star in the making (more so than Willian who also looks a star). They're a team man. The problem is that the keeper Pyatov looks to be a bit shit.

Looks like City is going for it putting out a very strong 11. Sinclair finally get some time on the pitch though!

This is just a terrible showing so far. I get the Derby is coming up but Yaya or Silva need to come in to try and make some plays

Terrible showing. Javi Garcia is terrible. The team didnt work together on Offense because they had no one to set them up

I see both Yaya and Silva leaving if not in Winter then no doubt in the Summer

Re: Champions League 2012/13

Do the Man City owners eventually just decide they don't want to invest in the team anymore and sell it? I find it ridiculous that that team can't make it out of the group stages in two straight years.

If Bayern wins tomorrow, all three german teams will have won their group. I hope the German trio avoid Real Madrid in the 1st round of knockout stages. Don't really care about drawing the other opponents, but I guess I'd prefer getting Cluj for Bayern

Re: Champions League 2012/13

Mancini has been due for the sack for a long time. I know he won the league, but he lucked out to do it when United choked down the stretch. The guy simply isn't a great manager and City can afford any manager they want, so...

Three German teams win their group, Chelsea is out, so good day. Who's the weakest opponent left in the tournament? I'm going with Galatassaray.
