Conference Overview
The SoCon is primed for a big season this year. After having 3 teams with 20 or more wins and one with 19 last year, the SoCon continues to improve it's quality as a whole. To take the next step, it's teams have got to win in the tournament something that they haven't done since 1997 when Tennessee-Chattanooga went to the Sweet 16 behind Coach Mack McCarthy and Johnny Taylor.

This year the SoCon has 5, maybe 6 teams (Georgia Southern) that can compete for the NCAA tournament bid and if some of the stronger teams take care of business outside the conference, the SoCon could have two teams in the tournament.

This year should be the year Chattanooga gets back to the dance, but if ETSU, Davidson, UNC-Greensboro and Charleston handle their business, this conference may get two bids. The top of the conference has got to avoid losses to the bottom teams if they want an at-large bid.
Another thing that hurts the SoCon is the amount of D-II games they play as a conference. Every year the conference has games against D-II teams because they can't fill their schedules. They are going to have to improve their scheduling if they are going to raise the profile of the conference.

NCAA Tournament Teams: Chattanooga, though there is a chance for an at-large bid in this conference. This should be a great conference season and fun to watch.
