Okay, I'm a Raptors fan so I guess I'm kinda parachuting into this board but I looked around and it looks dead. As a Canadian basketball fan, I worried A LOT about the Raptors leaving, esp. after the 16-66 season. I know it would break my heart and the Raps have only been around since 1995. The Sonics have 41 years of history and I, for one, believe that history is worth saving.

I looks like a bunch of people agree with me. Bill Simmons has a colossal mailbag about saving the Sonics. He followed that up with this column and sorta mailbag that brought out some reactions.

Now, I'm pretty sure that nobody on BBB is a billionaire. But that doesn't mean you (and other fans) can't make your voices heard. There are enough members of this forum alone to make some form of mass protest/response worthwhile. I know I'd support it.

I don't really have a point. I thought everyone here should know about this. I also think that you should fight for your team, even if the odds seem insurmountable. I'll be rooting for Seattle to keep its team.

If the Sonics leave the area it'll be a travesty. Being a Nuggets fan the Sonics are forever linked with us (for the 1994 playoff upset).

After reading the Simmons columns last week I just realized how unjust this whole mess is. But a point Simmons made rang true. If the Sonics do leave and somehow the city gets another team at some point -- things will be forgiven in time. It's crummy and it'll be weird to someday tell my kids, "Yeah our Nuggets defeated the Seattle Sonics is a fabled storybook upset...it was one of the best and craziest sports moments of my life!"

Kid: "Dad...who the heck are the Seattle Sonics."
Me: "Thanks David Stern!"
