Have you ever been in the zone?
Have you ever been playing basketball and just dominated more than you ever have before. Or if you suck have you ever gone in and played some good competition and did really well. It doesnt count if you played a bunch of chucklenuts at the local Y.
Ive found that since Ive come to college Ive played better basketball than I ever have before. My shot is so much better than it ever was. Sometimes when I go to the rec and I get on the 2nd best or best court I can just flat out play with them. Sometimes Ill score 8 out of the 12 buckets. Especially when I go with this guy I went to HS with. He can shoot lights out and when we get on the same team we run 4-5 games in a row. I think Ive just been in a zone lately. It really seems like I make everything.
Tell your best zone story of the time you felt you were just way better than usual and what do you think did it?

I'm usually a below-average shooter, but a game I went 7/9 from behind the arc (pickup w/average hs varsity players) definitely made me a GOAT contender. I was hitting threes running full speed off of screens, a fade-away, and over people taller than me. Alas, it was a one night stand.

I started off a game making three 3 pointers in the first minutes of the game. I finished 5-5 from the 3-point line with 20 points in about 2 quarters, because we blew the other team out of the water.

In a 2-on-2 game, I scored all 21 points and missed 5 shots.(Playing by 1's, so I was 21-26) I was draining them from 25+. Then next day, I scored 1 out of 21 and missed around 28 shots. Literally. I get 'in the zone' quite often but I need a 1 month grace period because of weightlifting during football season.
I have score 18+ out of 21 alot of times come to think of it.

My car battery died, so I went to the Zone (Auto Zone) to get a new one. It seemed very clean, and I got a decent battery for a decent enough price. That's the only time I've been in there I think.... it was alright, no big deal. Can't see that it's worth starting a new thread about tho.....

Well, I once made 9 three-pointers in a row and I didn't miss when I drove in. Ended up with about 33 points.

For the most part I get into defensive zones where I'll block literally every shot that comes my way and grab every board. I got a triple double with 13 blocks in a high school game once. I'm only 6'5" too.
I used to play my brother and his friend, 2-on-1 sometmes, and I'd get into a zone where I'd beat them 15-0. It would reach a point where I felt bad enough to try to miss, by shotting from 25-26 feet back, but even then I'd find myself hitting the shots. I guess there was just something about playing those guys, because I could never do that in an organized game.
