ULL's Cedric Williams ineligible for fall semester
Got this off the ULL fan board:
"This morning's Daily Advertiser says Cedric Williams will be ineligible for the fall semester. That is the second year in a row Cedric has this happen. Plan is for him to try to gain eligibility in the fall for play in the second semester. Last year that meant missing three games for players in that situation. As the schedule has not come out yet, there may be more games missed this year. He will definitely miss the preseason NIT. Article says Jessie expects both Michael Southall and Orien Greene to be eligible however. No word on the academic status of Jimmy Inglis. Anyone have any idea if he has gained his eligibility? With Williams out, Inglis may start at power forward if he is eligible. I imagine Chris Cameron is a candidate for playing time there as well. "

It really seems like ULL is having problems keeping their players eligible. Didn't they have one or two players that had to sit out last year for fall semester?
IMO, Jesse Evans is really holding back ULL. ULL should have and could have gone further last season, and I have to think part of it is Coach Evans. He honestly just isn't a great coach. His players have a lot of talent, but seem to go unused. His recruiting seems to consist of getting good players that are have questionable background, elgibility and grades. Is this what a university wants associated with them? Again, IMO, I think ULL would be better off not renewing Coach Evan's contract after this season, and find someone who recruit classy players that can make the grade.

If Evans can't win with Greene, Southall and Boyd (isn't that his name, the white guy who can shoot his butt off), then he needs to be fired because you are right he brings in some questionable talent all the time.

Yep, Brad Boyd, 6'6" 190Lb senior.
Southall is great, when he decides to show up. He is very inconsistant. He is going to have to turn it up if he wants to go to the NBA.
Greene is really good too, but seems to be some question about his eligibility as well.
Like I said, a lot of talent, and little to show for it. Evans' contract is up this year, you have to think their is a reason he hasn't already been extended. ULL has a reputation around the Sun Belt, I am hoping ULL is ready to turn that around.

This Is Par For the Course
This is to be expected. Cedric told a certain opposint player in February that he and several of his team mates had yet to go to class. Remember, this is the same team that was out till 3 in the AM during the previous night of their Sunbelt Tourney loss. What a waste of talent. Ced is a good kid that just needs some direction. This type of program was the worst place he could have chosen. I feel sorry for the Cajun fans because this team will never reach its full potential.

I also feel sorry for ULL fans. They deserve better. They get very defensive of their program, but yet on their board they are quick to want to move Evans out. It has become normal conversation at the end of semesters to hear which players will be ineligible for grades.
I had also heard that the team was out till 3am before the tournament (cannot imagine what they were doing that late in Bowling Green!!). I think they would be so better off without Jessie Evans.

It does sound like coaching is the problem.
