western kentucky vs louisville. thanks to louisville, it appears it won't be on tv. espn wanted to broadcast the game, but louisville insisted on starting the game at a different time and espn could not fit it into its programming schedule.
THANKS RICK!!!!

UNO has several big games this year. We paid dearly for last year's crappy slate. This year is a major step up.
We host LSU. Anytime you host the big boys in your state, I guess that's the biggest game of the year. Honorable mention goes to road games at Texas and Auburn.

Of course, Louisville is going to be WKU's biggest game. Their is quite the story to the game.
WKU and UL agreed to a Home and Home game in 1999. WKU played and defeated UofL in 2000 at Freedom Hall. The return game was to be played the following year in Nashville. Then UofL Coach, Denny Crum, asked Western to postpone the game a year because he was expecting a down year. WKU agreed to put it off a year, in return, the return game would be played at Diddle Arena instead.
EXIT Denny Crum, ENTER Rick Pitino (we like to call him p-r-i-c-k-t-i-n-o). Rick decided he didn't want to play the game at all. He attempted to back out of the game (typical Chicken Rick material). WKU brought it to the media, and the KY legislature got involved and forced UofL to play the game. So the game is back on.

Welcome to a Privateer fan. I haven't seen a big game by them since the days of Ervin Johnson in 1992, though I realize they went to the dance in 1996.
Hopefully AJ Meredith and Kyle Buggs can pick up the slack for Romero being gone.

A frightening thought for this Privateer fan. We were mediocre last year with a GREAT player in Romero. With this schedule and a roster without Hector, it doesn't look promising at all. Next year should be better with a good home schedule and a talented roster expected, but we'll take some lumps in 03-04.
Thanks for the welcome. I'll be around throughout the season. It looks lik a great site. You guys keep up the good work.

USA games
USA doesn't host any big OOC games, but we are looking forward to Mississippi State and Georgia. Against Mississippi State we will be without arguably our best player in Malerick Bedden, but we might still surprise them. I'll be the one who's surprised if the Jags don't beat UGA. They have very few scholarship players available to them and there are some bad attitudes on campus that Felton has to deal with. Not to mention that USA took a much better UGA team to the wire last year and USA has improved since then.

Mississippi State is also playing Western, they are playing a lot of Sun Belt schools. I am suprised.
UGA you guys should have no prob with. They lost a lot of talent and will be relying on walk-on players. You are already familiar with Felton's style of play, so that should help as well. I am cheering for USA on this one.

I failed to mention Miss St...they play us too. We play them in Tupelo, MS this year. The contract also includes a game in Starkville and one in Lakefront Arena.

Little Rock gets to play Miss. State AT HOME this year. Real coup for our schedulers, at least compared to recent years.

Good luck in getting Miss St to play the return game. I think it took WKU 4 years before Miss St finally return our home game. I think they wanted to wait till Marcus was gone and didn't know about Big Jelly or the game would be put off for another year.
The SBC needs to win some of the games against BCS teams if we want respect. The problem with that is the some key Sun Belt players are out till Dec. because of grades.

Absolutely! I'm REALLY rooting for every SBC team in EVERY OOC game, for the good of the conference. It is high time the SBC teams start winning the big OOC games, and the time has come for SBC teams to start advancing in the post season games. If the conference wants to gain respect from their peers, it is no longer acceptable to win "moral victories" or to peter out in the first round of the NIT's and NCAA's.
Also, another poster mentioned Mississippi State - what a classy school for giving home (and of course, away) games to SBC teams! They came to USA last year, packed the house, squeezed out a close one against USA. It was very cool to have a home game against a great SEC team for once even if it did take a 2 for 1 arrangement to get them to do it. You won't see Auburn or Alabama come to USA without some kind of government interference.

No, you misinterpret. We are playing Miss. St. in Little Rock this year. Our BIG non-conference game of the season.
