Ragin Cajuns get killed by Ga Tech
Georgia Tech killed the Cajun's tonight, 79-45. So much for making some noise early.
Having these key guys out really hurts:
Michael Southall (grades)
Cedric Williams (grades)
Orien Green (grades)

Can't take anything from this game because ULL didn't have their best players in the game. They will be very good near the end of the year if those guys are on the court.

I think you can take a lot. I think this falls on the shoulders of those players sitting out because they cannot get it done in the classroom, and the coach who continuously gives these players chances and recruits players who can't stay eligible. This is becoming a common thing for ULL. Coach Evans is wasting scholarships and effort on guys who don't seem to be to interested in playing ball. Obviously his academic discapline is not strong enough when you got four guys out because of grades. Either that, or he is just recruiting players that have no business in college. Those players should feel very guilty.

it hurts them a lot because this is when the cajuns are going to have the opportunities to rack up some quality wins. without their best players they aren't going to be able to. judging by how they played tonight, ANY win is going to be hard to come by whether it is against the rpi top 50 or not. the guys will miss nearly all the non-con and there is no guarantee they'll be eligible for the conference schedule. what a waste.

What I mean is, that I can't gauge what that loss does for the team? Had they had their full complement of players they would have performed better, but they didn't.
If those guys do what they are supposed to do, they will be back Dec. 9th. They weren't getting an at-large anyway. They should focus all their energy on trying to win the SBC tournament and having a good seed there. They should also develop those true freshman as well.

What really sucks is the fact that this BLOWOUT, while it may not be the end of the world for ULL's hopes, it sure is a kick in the nuts for the SBC as a whole :-(
I'm really getting tired of seeing SBC teams eliminated in the first rounds of these important preseason and postseason tourneys and I wouldn't be surprised if college basketball as a whole is tiring of it.
It's this type of showing by our SBC representatives that keeps guaranteeing the continuation of low interest from the TV networks and one representative ONLY in the NIT's and the NCAA's year after year after year.
What is the answer besides the obvious (i.e., START ADVANCING IN THESE THINGS!!!)?

i just noticed that they'd be back by december 9th if they get it done in the classroom. if they are able to win some of these ooc games, they maybe could get an at large. that is what they were going for when they beefed up the non-con, but it isn't all that likely now. in fact it is damn near impossible. they only have one other game before the dayton game and that is against a div ii team. they better win it.

He's not eligible until the 2nd semester this year, per NCAA transfer rules.

hello everyone,
I am new to this forum. I am a UL fan, and although this is my first post, I do read alot of what you guys got up here. Like the forums, they are very well run.
About the Georgia Tech game, I was embarassed, and I knew we were outmanned by a very athletic Tech team. That being said, we did not execute well, and looked decent at best in spurts.
About the players being out, yes, this team is totally different with them in there. It's embarassing when they should be there and we get manhandled on ESPN when with those guys in it could have been much closer. We will be a better team when they are in.
Responding to WKU Jeff, I know that Jessie seems to waste his time on thses people, but, it seems this year he is starting to put more discipline down on this team. He suspended Southall indefinetly until he gets his grades right, and did not start Brad Boyd in our last game b/c of discipline reasons. There are alot of signs that he is finally doing the right thing. I know in the past we have not given our fellow SBC fans anything to cheer about when this happens, but I believe that things are changing.
With all of that being said, we should have everyone back for our next game at Dayton on 12/9. Finals end here at UL the Saturday before. The Dayton game is on Tuesday, and all should be back. Although chemistry will be an issue the first game, I do expect us to be competive, and we have a chance to get some quality OOC wins in December with Xavier, and the Arizona tournament.
Great to be on this forum, and good luck to all of you.
WKU, good luck with Miss. State tonight. That will be an entertaining game at your place.

Welcome evcagun, glad to have you here.
As for Jessie Evans, it is very good that he has put his foot down and decided to hold these guys accountable. I am eager to see all these guys on the court for ULL.
Especially Orien Greene and Southall. ULL will all of their players has a really good chance to win a tournament game, but their guys can't keep fooling around and do the school work.
