My ****ty little run down city will be the set for the upcoming Silent Hill movie which will start filing in April.

Unlike other cities chosen for picturesque scenery Brantford has been chosen for its vacant, run down look. Geez I bet this is the marketing stragety our city council has been dreaming of for years:

We're talking about 6 blocks of former "downtown" shops that are boarded up, smashed windows territory. I just hope the junkies don't get in the way, I guess they can just use them as zombies.

Note the fake people in the windows facades put up to make it seem less depressing as you drive to the Casino.

the only Silent Hill games i've played were the first two but even i remember how thrilling they were...(and how i've never played them alone at night)

Horray for Browntown! Browntown is Brantford, right?

That is pretty sad that they wanted to film somewhere that they could make look like an ghost town without doing too many renovations. It probably came down to you guys and Flint, MI.

So an independent film company is making a movie out of Silent Hill? It seems like a game as well known as that should get a big budget.

As long as it's better than Resident Evil (and the sequel)!

Yeah my buddies and I all call it Browntown for its dirty nature.

As for Brampton ( which is where most peoepl think I live!) I've heard Bramladesh and Brambay but never Browntown.

The movie will be trash, but hopefully I'll be an extra

I just watched the new Dawn of the Dead again. They filmed that around Toronto, right?

I really like that one. So I think that's the bar that Silent Hill should set. Obviously Silent Hill will be more of a thriller, but I think the trend of self-aware horror films should be ignored in favour of creative, linear, simple stuff.

When they try to explain everything, or try to justify what's going on, everything goes to hell. Set everything up in a couple of scenarios, then just follow it through.

I am not sure about Dawn of the dead. I know that Resident Evil was filmed here and in one of the scenes she is runnning down the wall of city hall and it explodes

Almost any time a movie is based on a video game it doesn't go well.The Resident Evil movies were horrible.The storylines in the game beat out the storylines in the movie BY FAR which is pathetic for the people that wrote the storylines for the movie. Mortal Kombat wasn't too good. Super Mario was brutal. Double Dragon wasn't good. All anyone ever ends up making is a crappy movie.
