Re: hughes to the cavs
Well, 'Bron gets his running partner.
Not sure if Hughes will bring that perimeter threat (would have thought Johnson to have been the better option in those regards), but he certainly raises the D around there.
Either way, good signing for the Cavs. Priority should be focused on either re-signing Big Z or getting someone else to take over his spot.

Re: hughes to the cavs
is this for real?
washington was on to something, if they let hughes go they're missing the playoffs next year
jarvis hayes is not good enough for those minutes
the only thing i see is a sign and trade for kwame where they are getting a solid wing- who that would be i have no clue
on the other hand, that's a lot of money but i still match that

Re: hughes to the cavs
hughes was really good--but that's really expensive.
i can see a crawford and sweetney for kwame deal. maybe they'll sign antonio daniels or saranus (i'd bet on him) and work arenas at the two.

I think they can still make it.
They'll miss Hughes' D the most. I think Hayes can chip in on the offensive end to an extent. Also, Hughes gone means two things:
1) Arenas doesn't have to compete with Hughes for shots
2) The bigs get their fair share of touches
The Washington big 3 being no more doesn't necessarily mean Washington is no more.

Re: hughes to the cavs
Is this what Larry really wants, or is it just a negotiating device?
Washington has Bird Rights.
A great coup for Cleveland if they get him. Really, the best FA wing player available. Better D and younger than Ray; far more complete than Redd.

Re: hughes to the cavs
Does he really address Cleveland's needs in perimeter scoring though?
Last season he shot only 28% from beyond the arc. He's a good player, but this is a little too much money IMO.

Re: hughes to the cavs
Cleveland has their 3 point shooter and everyone is forgetting him, Luke Jackson. That guy might not be able to do anything in the NBA but shoot....

Re: hughes to the cavs
Well this can hurt the Wizards playoff hopes for next year. If they don't match the offer, they can always fill the void by sending Kwame Brown to the Knicks in return for Jamal Crawford.

Larry Hughes - New Cavalier
A little bird just came to my window and told me that Larry Hughes is going to sign with the Cavs for between 6-8 million a year

While I agree - how the hell is he gonna get on the floor with Hughes and Lebron both playing big minutes? Unless we are gonna see another Larry Hughes or Lebron PG experiment.
I think that Hughes is a wicked player, but shooting was their need and I agree with Turkish - this doesn't really address that. Maybe they will get Daniels or another good shooting Pg.

It should be for alot more than that. Reports have him making $12/year until 2010.

Re: hughes to the cavs
Seeing how much Larry Hughes and Joe Johnson are going to get makes me realize that Zeke did a good job getting Crawford for only 7 million.
Yes, Crawford isn't as good those two players IMO, but he is a bargain. Definately worth the 7 million dollar price tag if you compare it to Hughes and JJ who will be getting max money.
