How about they get 20 million then. What's fair. If a team only brings in 30 million in revenue and can only alot 25 to the budget, how will they afford even one of those players. Hockey players have been spoiled by the other sports. They think "hey that guy in that league is tops, I'm tops I want 11 million". Yeah, well show me how you will increase our revenues to the Level of the Eagles' and I'll give you what Donovan McNabb makes. Problem is that one player in either sport except for a chosen few can make such a difference. But far to many player get paid as if they are Gretz, Mario or MJ.

Back 100 years ago, did you know that they actually with 6 skaters per side plus one goalie. They reduced the number to increase the space on the ice.

The same is needed now. 2 fwd, 2 D one G. Try to trap 4 on 4. A lot harder. Try to clutch and grab, there is so much space that you will be able to get away from the checker

4-on-4 in is the answer, plus it helps undilute the product.
I don't think the 4-on-4 overtimes are much more exciting. I don't have statistics on them but I'd be curious to see what kind of goal production they provide versus the traditional 5-on-5.

If you want more space on the ice, switch to the international regulation ice surface. Owners won't do that because it would mean giving-up a ring or two of high-priced tickets, but it would help the League, IMHO. And if you want to kill the trap, make the neutral zone smaller and smaller.

Well actually you just give up the mid price tickets, you just re-adjust the sections a bit. Problem is that you have to own the building to do it or have a flexible seating arrangement, which most don't have.

I do find the overtime quite open.
