Despite being connected to several premier suitors, defenceman Adam Foote quietly chose Columbus to continue his career.

Foote signed a three-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets -- one of the busier teams thus far in the free agent frenzy. The deal is worth $13.8 million ($4.6 annually) and includes a no-trade clause.

Foote, who has spent his entire career with the Colorado Avalanche franchise -- dating back to when the club was known as the Quebec Nordiques -- also played a key role in Team Canada's gold medal triumph during in the 2002 Winter Games. He also owns a pair of Stanley Cup rings and a World Cup of hockey title.
