OT: Cassell for Jaric a done deal
Link
Clippers acquire Sam-I-Am and a lottery protected 1st rounder for Marko and the one and only Lionel Chalmers.
LA obviously are looking down the playoff road with the offseason acquisitions of both Cassell and Mobley. A good trade for them considering the likelihood of Jaric leaving anyhow. Sam's expiring contract and the first rounder sweetens it.

"I really like him...to me he's already pretty special," Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki said after continually getting beat to the basket by Bosh. "He's going to be a great player in this league."

Re: OT: Cassell for Jaric a done deal
Looks like the Clips are done with building through the lotto for the time being (as their pick belongs to New Jersey) and are ready to step forward into the playoffs. They have a lot of young talent and suddenly some great vets too in Brand and Cassel, who should be a good mentor for Livingston that can also play alongside. Good news from our point of view- wanting New Jersey's future to be fairly bleak. I just like the Clippers anyways- these aren't your daddy's clips.

Twolves on the other hand...
at least they're putting some younger talent around KG. Now, can they sign Griffin and another wing...

Re: OT: Cassell for Jaric a done deal
The TWolves stole Jaric and Chalmers.
Don't be fooled by the Clippers. This is just the illusion of competing. Yet another expiring veteran contract, just like Kittles last year, and another first round pick so they can keep the roster stacked with rookie scale contracts and talk about 'hope for the future' with their young lineup. Salary cap stays very low.
Sam is a one year player for them.
Over the last 2 seasons they got rid of:
Mel Ely
QRich
Bobby Simmons
Marko Jaric
Lionel Chalmers
and are supposedly shopping Wilcox who is up for renewal next year.
That's not building a winner.

Its a very good trade for the Clippers but I agreed with lucky its what the Clippers can do with their pick and Cassell's expiring contract that will determine whether this team is going in the right direction.

How did they steal him? Yes, Sam was probably going to walk at the end of this year, but they pretty much gave up a first rounder for Jaric; I wouldn't say that was a steal. I did not mention Chalmers because he is absolute garbage.
And guys, come on. If you know the topic is OT (you even put it in the title), then just put it in the off-topic forum. I've moved like 10 threads in the past 3 days to the off topic forum.

OT: T-Wolves Trade Cassell to Clippers
http://www.tsn.ca/nba/news_story.asp?id=133307
It is basically Cassell and a first round pick for Jaric and Chalmers. This trade helps out both teams in their own way.
Peace

Bad for the wolves. Yaric is a poor mans Cassell and who is Lionel Chalmers? Is he any good?

Yes they conveniently 'stole' Chalmers, a scrubber's scrub.

Re: OT: T-Wolves Trade Cassell to Clippers
losing yet another first rounder really hurts the Twolves. I think it's a little much for Jaric, who hasn't exactly impressed me in his career so far.
