A Tribe Called Quest Is Coming to Toronto!!!
FLOW Presents
The 2K Sports Bounce Tour Featuring
A Tribe Called Quest
R.E.M.G. presents the long awaited return of A Tribe Called Quest, live at the Kool Haus.
Considered by many to be one of the most influential hip-hop groups of the 90's, A Tribe Called Quest is comprised of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Together they began the type of hip-hop that provided an alternative to gangster rap which was the focal point of the hip-hop industry at that time, and created songs that addressed issues pertinent to their community. This new type of hip hop was coined "jazz-rap" due to its influence from jazz music with hip-hop beats mixed in.
A Tribe Called Quest made their debut in 1989 when they released their first album People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. This album launched the group into quick success with popular songs like "Can I Kick It?" and "Bonita Applebum". Following up from their initial success, A Tribe Called Quest released their second album in 1991, The Low End Theory. This album went platinum and had two tracks (Scenario and Check the Rhime) reach the Top 10 on North American billboards. Their third album, Midnight Marauders, was A Tribe Called Quest's largest commercial success and included the hit single "Award Tour". While touring their fourth album, The Love Movement, A Tribe Called Quest announced that they would be breaking up. Each of the group member has since pursued solo careers. The most successful being Q-Tip who went on to release his solo album Amplified which included the popular single "Vivrant Thing".
In 2004 A Tribe Called Quest reunited to play a limited number of live concerts and now they are back for a fall tour. For the first time since 1996's Up In Smoke Tour, A Tribe Called Quest is back for this highly anticipated show in Toronto. Don't miss your chance to see this legendary group.
The 2K Sports Bounce Tour featuring A Tribe Called Quest includes a Videogame Lounge (featuring the #1 rated hoops videogame, NBA 2K7), Videogame Challenge and free giveaways - including the new 2K7 Soundtrack by Dan The Automator w/ Mos Def, E40, Fabolous, Tribe Called Quest, and Ghostface among others. NBA 2K7 is in stores Sept 25th. For more information: http://www.2ksports.com/bounce

Oh gawd, you couldn't pay me to go to an all ages hip-hop concert on Toronto, too many kids that think they're tough.
Too bad, Bonita Applebum, you've gotta put me on.

The Roots was all ages... there weren't many kids there. Either way, hip hop shows don't attract idiot kids unless it's like 50 Cent or Nelly, but all-ages rock shows do.

As someone who works security at almost all the major concerts and venues around the city, let me tell you that's not true.
A Tribe would be the rock equivalent of, let's say Weezer. Weezer won't have any sketch kids and if they are it's only because they want to get back stage.
50 Cent, well that's more like a slayer show or something, in which case, yes lot's of stupid kids show up, but in those shows the older dudes seem to cause more problems than the younger ones. That's not the case with most hip-hop shows, most of the time the older guys are cool, it's the younger ones that get all hot under the collar.
Either way, when you're of age, you don't want to be hanging around some kid going green for the first time. How many older people do you see at all ages shows? Not as many as there are kids there.
Mind you I have an Anita Baker concert on Sunday, so that should be a really rough crowd...lol.

The roots is a college band. Suburban thugs don't care about the roots.
For that matter I don't know if that demographic has even heard of TCQ. I'm sure they have heard some of Q-tip's recent garbage.
I think there will be a young crowd at this thing by virtue of the fact that there is video games etc. Tribe is still a great live show. If I still lived in toronto I'd try and go

Re: A Tribe Called Quest Is Coming to Toronto!!!
shookem... come on dawg, are you acting like I don't go to shows?
Weezer will attract idiot kids because of their last album and songs like "Beverly Hills". Just like Green Day will. You have to realize a lot of these kids haven't even heard the Blue Album or Dookie. It's the same crowd for shows like Billy Talent (where the only older people were the kids' ****ing parents) and the Used. Lots of idiot kids.
As for Slayer, I'm guessing you're talking about the July 4th show... a big thing with that crowd had to do with their opening bands. Lamb of God and Children of Bodom are "in-bands" for those hardcore, gothy idiot kids. I liken that to the Deftones show I saw in April... most of the crowd wasn't even there for them, but rather openers like Atreyu and As I Lay Dying. As sad as it is, Slayer and the Deftones aren't the ones selling those tickets anymo | |
