I'd say it's shaping up very well. In McGrady, Camby and Martin you've got a very nice trio. McGrady can be set loose as the clear offensive linchpin, and Camby and Martin give you good defense and energy--and they'll get some points on finishes, offensive rebounds, etc. With your last few picks, I'd say you need a steady veteran to back up Livingston (since his potential is high but it's very debatable how much he's ready to do this year), a real shooter to help create space for McGrady's drives, and one way or another an additional scoring option to ease the pressure on McGrady. I think Kenyon is basically a good third option at this point...

Only one thing you got two people playing out of position. Jamal and Josh, but B.Jackson is a good pick. I was going to select him if i didnt miss my turn.

me thinks my team is better

i've got one of the best scorers in the league, backed by players that have clearly defined roles and don't necessarily need the ball to score.

darko's there for the defense, and his quickness in the post. magloire will do all the dirty work, raja and gerald wallace are great perimeter defenders, raja bell is a lights out 3 point shooter and gerald wallace can use his athletisim to his advantage and play off the ball as Marion does.

plus i haven't even mentioned the bench. I'm pretty sure I will have one of the best benches in the league when its all said and done- I've got the versatile Harpring, plus lots of potential in Pietrus, Aldridge and May. I am just missing a veteran big to shore up that front line.

If my team were to play your team, my three 7 footers would give you a lot of trouble. Gerald Wallace will affect Lewis' shooting a bit, while Crawford is no match for Arenas. Don't know about your bench yet but I'm pretty sure my second unit will be much better.

edit: ps i dont see how you can be an amazing run and gun team with Crawford running the point. Check out my Raps team in the Nets Forum Draft (see sig)..now that is a premier run and gun team.

I like your team just because you have 2 superstars that should carry you and make up for the lack of depth in other positions. Q-Rich was a good pick to backup those two superstars and provide some much needed outside shooting. Duhon was a good choice, but it didnt really matter who played PG anyways cause Pierce and Wade are going to handle the ball most of the time.

I do not like the LaFrentz pick at all. I feel you have some pretty terrible inside defense and that should be your number 1 priority. LaFrentz is not a good defender, and you really needed somebody who could play in the inside. Shareef is a bit undersized at his positions, and a medocre defender atbest, Haywood is OK but won't give you more than 25 minutes.

Thats why i went with Raef. When given the time with Denver he was a great inside defender, blocking more then 2.5blks/game.

he doesn't have that ability anymore.

there were better big man defenders available.

i admit, they are out of position, ALA natural positions, but jamal played PG on his days in chicago, and josh played alot of sg in the playoffs this past season guarding dwyane wade etc. while stack played sf.

i got alot of combos, Amare can play C/PF, Josh SF/SG, Jamal SG/PG, Donyell is a small PF/SF.

i didn't nescessarily say my team was better then anyones, but if it comes to that, i KNOW i'm top 3-4.

and i say run & gun, cuz all my guys can run & shoot... but yes we lack a true PG, but crawford CAN distribute and so can bobby. your going to need tight D at each position because these guys can light you up, if left remotely open.

i could change the whole outlook and produce a lineup of

Amare
Marshall
Lewis/Howard
Crawford
B.Jacks

Re: Raptors Forum GM Draft Discussion Thread

I dunno...calling a chicken an eagle doesn't mean it can fly. You have a lot of talent on your team, but it could use a decent pass-first piont guard to help the pieces jell, even if it's a second-tier reserve. Crawford's good for a lot, but there's a reason he doesn't log serious minutes at PG anymore.
