you got two options....I just got a failure to stop at a stop sign ticket so I'm going through a similar situation
1. If you don't care about the associated points attached to the ticket, then you can go anyday and ask to speak to a Justice of the peace. they will reduce the fine but won't reduce or eliminate the charge, so all the points you lost, still stand
2. If you do care about the points you lost and want to reduce the charge to a lessor one, you do the "guilty with an explanation" choice and ask for a trial and meeting with the prosecutor. This is your best chance at reducing or eliminating a charge, but the trial will most likely be months away. For example, my trial for my stop sign ticket is in Feb.
