Jays need to:
(a) turn Stuart and Lidle into a closer
(b) get a decent starter
(c) Dump [b]Cliff "Go-deep" Polite[\B] to Syracuse for some seasoning.
and honestly they could win the world series... yes, call me nuts I think they are that good.

All the Jays really need to be real dangerous WS contenders are another quality starter (WEAVER!!!) and possibly another relief pitcher who can possibly close for us and we're set...
-Explosive Offense
-4 Good Starters in Halladay, Lidle, Escobar and (blank)
-Decent bullpen, not outstanding but hopefully can get the job done...

I've got to defend Stewart. Unless the Jays could get a dominant closer or a dominant starter (ie Schilling) in a trade package, I think we should keep him. He is one of the best natural pure hitters in baseball. Yes, Johnson is playing well now, but Stewart has been at .300 the last 5 years! That's consistency you need in a lineup.
Also, I think with Johnson playing well he feels pushed now. Did anyone else notice that Stewart's first at bat after he came off of the injury was a home run on the second pitch of the game yesterday?

Look, I love Stewart, he's my favourite player on the Jays. But let's face it, he's a FA and we probably won't come back so we have to get what we can for him. And I think we'll trade him for a good starter by the deadline. Schilling is a possibility but the D-backs are hot right now... if they cool down by the deadline and the Jays are still in it, I can see a trade going down.

I was watching the Jays game the other day against the expos where lopez loaded the bases in the 8th and eventually politte came in and gave up a 3 run homer to lose the game. That's not going to get it done. We should've kept loaiza, dude's competing for the all-star starting job against Halladay this season. Imagine if we kept him in our rotation.

i hated Loaiza as a Jay, and i bet he'd still struggle if he was still with us

Yes Stewart has been a great Blue Jay, however, I believe that his chances of being back here in Toronto are pretty slim....He wants a little too much money than Rogers would like to give up...I'd rather the Jays go after a young starter that will contribute for a longer period of time like 4-5 years....Harang of the A's for example will be a great pickup for us cuz he'll be here for the next couple of years, and develop to a very good pitcher by 2004 or 2005 where we were projected to be an elite level team....

4 game losing streak, not good news, Yankees are distancing and soon the wildcard will be out of reach, we got to turn this funk around.....

Phew....Good thing Halladay won today....It'd be pretty bad if we got swept by the Tigers...
