OT: Tales of the Blackout
I figured since most people who post here live around Toronto, there would be a lot of talk about the big blackout. How did things go for you?
I was at my grandmothers house. She has been cooking all week, 'cause she has family from Montreal coming down this weekend. She freaked because she thought all the nice food she had prepared in advance would spoil. So I spent most of the day running around trying to find an open store to buy ice to keep her fridge cool.
My uncle works in Toronto at a law firm. He said he had to walk down 62 flights of stairs when the power went out, since the elevators were shut right down.
I'm in Kingston, about 2 1/3 hours from Toronto. We lost power here for about eight hours, from ten after four to sometime around midnight. Wasn't all that bad really. I'd like to hear about what other people had to go through.

I had tickets to the Mets Giants game, and was in the heart of the city when it all happened. The surprising thing was that traffic wasnt that bad on the way back. We left a little after six, so most people had gotten home from work already. In some places there was even less traffic than normal, because no1 was going to go anywhere, unless they had to go home, (were most people already were.) All the traffic was once we were out of the city and into SW Connecticut.

OK... I was down at World of Posters on Yonge St. when it happened. I'm so pissed now because we were just at HMV before and if we stayed, we coulda looted the place!! AGH!!!
But anyway me and my friend went down to Queen St. to Steeve's music shop in hopes that the blackout would end by then so we could play the guitars there. Obviously, we were wrong. We hung aroudn there for like half an hour, then we went back to Yonge St., stopping a bit on the way. From there we started walking north, and stopped for pizza on the way. Then, we noticed people giving others rides up north. So I spotted this guy with a BMW and asked him if he could give us a ride, and he said YES!!! Whoa, sweetest car I've ever been in (like on a street). It had this satelite thingy in the front that had a map and the stereo system too... it was really cool. Anyway the guy gave us a ride back to aroudn where we live, and then we went to his appartments (Bayview & Sheppard) and we just chilled with the people there. They were planning to go looting downtown on their bikes later that night but they never actually did. So yeah it was cool overall.

We left work (downtown) bought 40-60 bottles of medium warm beer and walked from King to Eglinton making an *** of ourselves. It was fun and entertaining.

I started up a squad of vigilantes who pelted all looters, rioters, and general troublemakers with punches and suplexes....
Okay, I actually work at the only fast-food place in my town (a beachy tourist town) with a gas grill, and it was the worst, hottest, smokiest day of work in history. So it sucked
I ask everyone for their sympathy right now.

I nearly spit all my orange juice all over my computer screen. Needless to say hearing vigilante and suplexes in the same sentence was a thing of beauty.
Thanks for the laughter.
suplexes... Ha Ha.

See, I was out looting last night and suddenly, I found myself pelted by a suplex, and I was like, "Who the hell was that?"...and now I know...

LMAO.
But he said it was him and a couple of vigilantes. You probably got doubled suplexed.
